These kits all comprise resin cast sides, ends and some accessory parts. The turtle back roofs are vacuum formed in either styrene or ABS. The clerestory roof on the Addington car is to be assembled mainly from resin parts. All running gear is either white metal or pewter. Some medium density fibreboard and wood is used in construction. Working NZR style 'chopper' couplers and North Yard brand wheels are included.

These kits have now all been withdrawn from the market due to the resin casting rubbers having become worn and brittle to the point that casting quality is compromised. I am working on new patterns as limited time permits.

A rake of these cars is a most impressive sight. There is sufficient variety amongst the six kits offered to make a representative North Island or South Island train. Some modellers have not been content to do that but have used these kits as a basis for a facelift (in true prototype fashion) to model Southerners, Northerners, Endeavours, etc.

These kits, being of more specific types are more complete than the more generic wooden types listed above and include decals, plated handrail assemblies and door knobs, lamp brackets.

They employ a wide range of materials including photoengraved brass for vestibule striker plates and doors, vacuum formed plastic sides and roofs and lost wax cast brass details and white metal or pewter running gear and underfloor detail. They are a craft type kit requiring experience in working with all these materials. The Guard's van has resin cast sides and ends. Kits are supplied with standard NZR style 'chopper' couplers which I acknowledge is not prototypical but which do allow easy coupling to other vehicles. Kadee 0 scale couplers (not included) may be substituted to represent the Alliance knuckle coupler of the prototype.

These kits have now been withdrawn due to the unavailability of some key components. Some componentry (e.g. vacuum formed roofs) are available for scratchbuuilt projects. Email me with any enquiries you may have.
